Happy Line Dancing Monday,
“If your brain can evolve with this new world, you won’t just survive, you’ll dominate.”
So I talked to many successful AI users and came up with lessons that will make you the best strategic AI user in your circle. With these lessons your AI skills will skyrocket higher than today’s gas prices.
(Too soon Regis ..too soon ...😣)
This month, I'm doing a series on the mindset needed to be successful with AI. Please check out last week's lesson on Sacrificing the 20% and paying your AI Taxes, if you missed it.
For lesson three, picture this: two people on the dance floor at a wedding, both trying to lead, but they’re awkwardly moving, and wobbling around like those inflatable tube guys with their arms flailing in the air. That’s how most people look working with AI right now.
Now picture Carlton (Alfonso) and his partner gliding across the floor in Dancing with the Stars. They KNEW when to lead, and when to spin together in perfect harmony. THAT'S the AI relationship you want.
I know an ED who let AI recommend changes to their board meeting structure without any input. AI suggested cutting committee reports entirely to save time. The ED implemented it. The next board meeting? Pure pandemonium. Board members were confused, defensive, and slightly offended. Because that ED forgot something crucial. Boards don't like change without discussion; that was a forbidden dance. AI didn't know that. The ED did. But she let AI lead a dance it wasn't qualified for.
On the flip side, I know another ED who spent 4 hours manually researching grant opportunities, building a spreadsheet, and cross-referencing funders. When she finally asked AI to help organize her findings, AI basically said, "I could have done this entire research project in 12 minutes" She led when she should've followed. She did The Dougie Dance when she could've waltzed.

Lesson #3: Learn the Dance
For the best output, the dance should Not Be 50/50, it should be 100% you AND 100% AI. . Both partners fully engaged, each leading in their zone of expertise.
When YOU Should Lead:
You know your board's personalities, politics, and pet peeves.
You know your donors' giving history and emotional triggers.
You know what feels authentic to your mission and what feels fake.
You know the cultural nuances of the populations you serve.
You know you, better than AI.
When AI Should Lead:
Research that would take you hours.
Drafting first versions of anything written.
Pattern recognition in data.
Generating multiple options to choose from.
Translating, summarizing, and reformatting content.
Nobody puts Baby in a corner, channel your inner Patrick Swayze and lift your AI skills higher than ever.
----------
Actionable Task:
Practice the perfect Robot Dance This Week
Pick ONE task you're working on this week and ask yourself two questions before you start:
Question 1: "Is this in MY zone of expertise (relationships, mission, culture, nuance)?"
If yes, lead the dance. Use AI as your backup dancer for support.
Question 2: "Is this in AI's zone of expertise (research, drafts, data, options)?"
If yes, let AI lead. You jump in as the choreographer to refine and personalize.
Stop trying to do the Macarena alone when you have a partner ready to dance the Tango with you.
----------
Remember:
Your relationship with AI mirrors every great partnership: Sometimes you lead with vision. Sometimes you follow its capability. Success is mastering that rhythm, while everyone else is still fighting for control.
(Boom🫳🏾🎤: I was able to massage 10 Dance names and reference in this post. Did you find then?🤣)
#ExistToServe
P.S. Drowning in tasks AI could handle? Don't know where to start? Need to save time and money? Sincerely, let's talk.
Let's hop on a 30-minute call. I'll show you how you can clock out on time, get home to your family, and still serve more community members:

Mondays are rough. It's scary times for Nonprofits. Your time is scarce. That’s why I created the Monday Motivational Minute. Each week, I’ll send you one high-impact, actionable idea to help you leverage AI and save time. It will always be a 1-minute read or less. If it adds value, great. If not, unsubscribe, but I’m betting you’ll want to stay. (Challenge Accepted ☺️)
