Happy successful EOM Monday,
"WHERE DO I EVEN START WITH AI?", asked you.
As a new month starts, by popular demand, I wanted to kick off another themed month with the intent of providing the highest value to you. So I did deep deep research to investigate the top 4 most asked questions about AI from you, Coloradan nonprofit leaders, and each week I'll answer one question, starting with....
"Where do I even start with AI?"
Everywhere I looked this was your most asked question; it was asked more than board members asking if you can ‘do it cheaper’ while approving nothing.😣😬
Although 82% of nonprofits in Colorado are using AI in some way, a whopping 3 out of every 4 admit they have no clue how to best implement it across the organization for real impact. So even the people using it have no idea where to truly start to leverage AI to make a difference and save real time and money.
Let Regis help you with that. (Ew, I won't talk about myself in the third person again 😣🤢)
This is going to sound anticlimactic, but the answer is much more simpler than the question sounds. AI can help you use AI.
----------
Actionable Task:
Find your first real AI win.
Step 1: Think of one of your most time-consuming or most repetitive tasks (whichever one would excite you most to make efficient).
Step 2: Go to your favorite AI tool.
Step 3: Paste and edit this prompt:
"I'm the [TITLE] of [NONPROFIT] and I have access to [NAME AI TOOL, free or paid version]. How can I leverage AI to make this task the most efficient? For context, the task is [EXPLAIN TASK AND STEPS]. Before you start, ask me all the questions you need to fully understand the process so you can show me how AI can make it more efficient. Make the solution simple to implement and nontechnical"
Step 4: Implement what it recommends.
Step 5: Brag to your competitor that you now use AI to beat them... Joking, don't do that. Instead, forward this email to an ED friend and share notes on the latest AI solution you've both implemented.
Example use cases:
Automating your weekly board update email
Speeding up grant research and first drafts
Drafting donor thank-you letters in minutes
Cleaning up and organizing messy spreadsheets
Summarizing long reports or meeting notes
If you want me to give you a more complicated, intimidating answer, I can. Oooor, when you do this, you can finally accept that you just started putting AI to work to create real tangible efficiency in your organization. Congratulations !!!!!
Now rinse and repeat.
That's it!🤷🏾♂️

Remember:
Hick's Law states that the more we think about a decision, the longer it takes to act. The hardest part of any task is the "activation energy" needed to begin. The reality is always anticlimactic, but the results are real. Fight that voice in your brain telling you to wait, and do what you love to do; less operations and more people serving.
You got this! 🙏🏾

P.S. Drowning in tasks AI could handle? Don't know where to start? Need to save time and money? Sincerely, let's talk.
Let's hop on a 30-minute call. I'll show you how you can clock out on time, get home to your family, and still serve more community members:
